Human Rights Policy

Last updated: 29 March 2026

Chitral Skills Academy (“CSA”) is committed to respecting and promoting human rights in everything we do. We believe education and skills training are powerful tools for dignity, equality, and opportunity.

This Human Rights Policy sets out how we approach rights-related principles in our learning environment, workplace, and community relationships. It complements our other policies, including safeguarding expectations and equal treatment in access to programmes.

We draw on internationally recognised human rights standards, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and core UN conventions on discrimination, children’s rights, and labour, as guiding principles, alongside applicable laws of Pakistan.

This policy does not create legally enforceable rights beyond what the law provides, but it expresses our organisational values and how we expect CSA and those who work with us to behave.

Every learner, staff member, volunteer, contractor, and visitor deserves to be treated with respect. We do not tolerate harassment, bullying, humiliation, or violence.

We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, marital status, family responsibilities, political opinion, or other protected or analogous grounds in access to training, hiring, promotion, or everyday interactions, except where limited exceptions are required or permitted by law and applied fairly.

We make reasonable adjustments where practicable so that people with disabilities or specific needs can participate in learning and work, subject to safety and programme integrity.

Learners have the right to a safe, inclusive learning environment free from exploitation. We oppose child labour and forced labour in any form connected to our activities.

We support freedom of expression within the classroom and academy spaces, balanced with respect for others and compliance with law. Academic and professional integrity (honesty in work and assessment) is part of how we protect fairness for everyone.

Personal data and dignity are protected in line with our Privacy Policy; sensitive information is handled with care.

We expect fair recruitment, clear expectations, timely payment where contractually agreed, and safe working conditions within our means as a training organisation.

We oppose discrimination in hiring and promotion and support equal pay for work of equal value where we control remuneration structures.

Contractors and partners who represent CSA are expected to uphold the same spirit of respect and non-discrimination when interacting with learners and the public.

We engage schools, employers, NGOs, and community members in ways that aim to strengthen local opportunity without exploiting vulnerability. Partnerships should align with this policy’s principles; we will review serious concerns raised about a partner’s conduct.

If you believe your rights have been violated in connection with CSA, or you witness concerning behaviour, you can raise it through our contact channels. Where appropriate we will investigate confidentially, take corrective action, and protect against retaliation for good-faith reporting.

Urgent safety concerns should be directed to local authorities when immediate harm is possible.

Leadership is responsible for promoting awareness of this policy and integrating it into induction, programme delivery, and partner discussions. We will review this policy periodically and update it when our context or best practice evolves.
